Although, I had just decided on a kind of lighter burgundy color for the background, I remembered that this was October and it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So, I've changed my background to pink in honor of this. (I read to do this somewhere, but can't remember where!) I'm also going to try and post some different good ways to support this in my little "Shout Out" area in the right column. I would like to recommend to all that we use some type of pink in our blog to show our support! I know that my Aunt is fighting breast cancer right now and most of my friends have been affected by it somehow in their family. And maybe everytime we see pink on our blogs as well as ones we read we can say a prayer for all of those who are fighting with breast cancer right now!!!
My first Shout Out is one that my cousin Sheryl (my aunt that has breast cancer is her mom) found and its the tastiest one of all! :)

I'm ALL ABOUT pink when it comes to breast cancer awareness. All posts at 5McCKids will be in pink this month!
Oh, what a great idea making your background pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I'm sorry to hear that your aunt is fighting breast cancer right now.
I love your ShoutBox-- what a great idea!
I had a benign lump removed on the left when I was 23.
A very eye opening experience- - it CAN happen to anyone and with no real warning-- GET YO MAMMYGRAMS ladies!
I already went out and bought the M&M's. Great job spreading the word and great job on recommending the M&M's. :o)
Well, what a coincidence. I'm meeting a friend at Panera tonight. It may be the perfect opportunity to try out the new bagel (even if it means foregoing the Cinnamon Crunch bagel-- a serious sacrifice). ;)
Here's a question for the group--at what age do experts recommend going for your first mammogram?
From what I've read they say you should have your first around age 40. Of course, I will say for you and I, Kris our risks are higher because we possibly have a family history with aunts that have it and then I read that there is an increased risk for women who have their first child over the age of 30 or don't have children. So, when you have kids, you'll be over 30 and even though I "have" children, I didn't "have" my children so my risks are increased. Guess I should go squish my boobs around tonight and check 'em out. :) Although, like Kelly said, it could happen at any age!
Well, if you think the squishin ain't a whole lot of fun- I could show you my scar as motivation :)
(and everybody said "we'll pass!")
Details aren't something I'll get into here, but if you feel you aren't yet old enough to go have a mammy- then at LEAST do the self checks---follow up on anything abnormal!
I'd heard that my chances for develping breast cancer are greater because I have not had children and am over the age of 30--that stinks! Seems like I remember my doctor saying because of that and because of the history of breast cancer in my family I should have a "baseline" mammogram earlier that what they suggest for the norm which is 40. How early I don't know. It's probably about time for another physical and I guess I should ask my doctor. Thanks, girls, for the reminder to keep up with these things. I hate going to the doctor, but I guess the alternative is ignorance.
Oh, and I love how we're all talking about mammograms and my little sister is all focused on the M&M's. . .
I was out shopping yesterday and DressBarn has a little stuffed lamb(s) for sale to support Breast Cancer Research. For 6 dollars you get this sweet white lamb with a smaller lamb attached, it has a pink ribbon on it's foot and a pink and grey scarf around it's neck Called Lela and Lu. It would be a perfect stuffed pal for two sweet little angels at your house :)
They also are selling pins ( like to dress up a sweater or whatnot) for $5. ( yeah, I got it too- it was for a good cause!<--I like that excuse:)
It has charms on it, amongst them a pink ribbon. I will try to snap a picture and send to you... I can't find any online
